Upscale Downsized
My clients purchased their new apartment in Malvern after years of living in their suburban family home. The kids, now adults, had left home and had families of their own. It was time for a new chapter. However, the timing of the move was tricky. Amidst covid and lockdowns, my clients bought and sold just before the end of the year. With very tight time frames and furniture shortages, new items were sourced to sit comfortably with some items and keepsakes from the family home.
They wanted their new home to feel like a haven. As they were leaving an established garden for an apartment with a small balcony, for me the starting point was to make the home feel familiar. That it was part of a garden. An amazing colourful rug suggestive of foliage and flowers was selected and the balcony was covered with faux hedges to provide privacy and a verdant space. From there, colours were pulled from the rug to inform the pallet for the rest of the apartment.
What People Are Saying
“We asked Katie for help when downsizing from our home of 50 years to a retirement apartment. We wanted our apartment to be attractive, comfortable and restful, in fact a haven. Katie sourced everything we required from furniture, soft furnishings, lighting, bed linen, art work and then finally styled the apartment.
Katie always listened to our goals, was very thorough and through her contacts was able to save us money. More importantly Katie succeeded in making our move a manageable and enjoyable experience.”— Home Owner
