BEFORE & AFTER AT BLAIRGOWRIE
Some of the furniture simply needed to be re-arranged to make the spaces work better and to look more appealing.
I had so much fun working on a refresh of a 3 bedroom holiday house at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. The owners needed some help getting the house ready for the summer season and to attract the holiday rental market and Airbnb.
With a limited budget and timeframe, here’s how the house was transformed:
White paint – A coat of paint does wonders! Especially to the original 1970’s kitchen. The brown cabinets and patterned tiles were transformed by a couple of coats of Dulux Natural White.
De-clutter – Items that weren’t needed such as old or worn furniture were removed. A new cupboard was created to store away the owner’s items when guests are staying. Personal items such as photos were also put away.
Re-arrange – Fortunately most of the furniture such as sofas, dining table and chairs were in good condition. Some of the furniture simply needed to be re-arranged to make the spaces work better and to look more appealing.
Key pieces – A few new pieces of furniture were bought such as the round coffee table, a side board and a dresser. The large green round mirror in the dining room and some new lamps in various colours and shapes were also purchased to create more interest.
Bringing it together – The owners love colour, which was evident in the existing dining chairs. Elements such as the striped cushions, colourful lamps and decorative accessories, helped bring out the playful tones and remind you that you’re are on holiday!
